INSULATION QUOTES HOME WALL INSULATION
Wall insulation is extremely important. A typical older 100 square metre home has approximately 80 square metres of walls that need insulating. It’s no surprise that the lack of wall insulation accounts for the second highest heat loss surface in most homes. Most insulation cavities have a approx 100mm of space that can be filled with wall insulation products and adding 100mm of insulation to existing wall cavities reduces heat loss through the wall structure by about 85%.
Adding 100mm of insulation to existing wall cavities reduces heat loss through the wall structure by about 85%.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF WALL INSULATION?
Insulating Exisiting Wall Cavities
Insulmax injected blown fibre wall insulation or Mineral Wool is the preferred product our contractors use for insulating the existing walls of your home. Installing mineral wool dry fibre insulation such as Insulmax is a cost effective way of insulating existing walls in your home. in situations where removing wall linings to install conventional biscuit/segment insulation is not cost effective.
Traditional Biscuit/Segment Wall Insulation
This is the traditional wall insulation that most people are familiar with that is used in new home builds. This type of wall insulation is made from either spun glass fibres or polyester materials and is generally used in situations where you have easy access to the wall cavities in new home builds or renovations prior to installing the gib or plasterboard.
INSULMAX® DRY FIBRE & MINERAL WOOL WALL INSULATION PRODUCTS
Insulmax injected blown fibre wall insulation or Mineral Wool is the preferred product our contractors use for insulating the existing walls of your home. Manufactured by melting and spinning inert minerals to form fine strands, these strands are then milled to form a very high performing blown micro fibre insulation.
An inert water repellent agent is then added which makes the product very resistant to the absorption of liquid water. The products used will not wick water and are a fully breathable. The milled micro fibres are able to be blow installed via small holes. The fineness of the micro fibres also contributes to its exceptional thermal insulation properties and allows it be densely packed into wall cavities so that it will not settle, sag or slump.
At installed densities the mineral wool & existing wall cavity insulation products our preferred suppliers use, have been tested to provide an insulation rating of R2.8 /100mm and has been given the highest rating of non combustibility and it’s rated settling is S1 (less than 1% or unmeasurable). Ask for product technical statements during assessments .
All Insulmax products are installed by qualified, experienced, professional installers to local TA code requirements. You can watch our Insulmax demonstration videos here.
EARTHWOOL GLASSWOOL WALL INSULATION PRODUCTS
EarthWool insulation products are manufactured by Knauf, Germany, from bonded, brown glass wool blanket and cut into segments or rolls. It is the only brown formaldehyde free glasswool available locally in New Zealand. It offers excellent long term thermal and acoustic insulation at a competitive price to similar quality materials.
EarthWool wall insulation is made from highly resilient, inorganic glass fibres bonded by ECOSE® Technology, a revolutionary new binder based on rapidly renewable bio-based materials rather than non-renewable petroleum-based chemicals in home insulation products. ECOSE® Technology reduces Knauf Insulation binder embodied energy and contains no phenol, formaldehyde, acrylics or artificial colours found in traditional glasswool wall insulation products.
EarthWool® wall insulation provides a cost-effective thermal and acoustical barrier for energy-efficient construction. The insulation’s consistent quality, low dust, and clean-cutting resilient wool makes installation fast. EarthWool® wall insulation can be used in timber and metal frame applications in residential structures. These applications include thermal and acoustical treatments to ceilings Knauf Insulation offers EarthWool® wall insulation in a range of sizes.
