INSULATION QUOTES HOME UNDERFLOOR INSULATION

Underfloor insulation is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to insulate your home, and there is a wide variety of underfloor insulation products available on the market today. With more than 10% of the heat from your home lost through the floor, and even more in older style wooden homes – you have every reason to insulate the floors of your home today.

Underfloor insulation products can also help reduce dampness with a well installed layer of insulation preventing moisture from penetrating into the house from a damp basement. This helps create both a higher room temperature, drier air and a more comfortable living space for you and your family.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF UNDERFLOOR INSULATION?

Insulating Exisiting Underfloor Cavities

Insulmax injected blown fibre underfloor insulation or mineral wool is the preferred product our contractors use for insulating the existing underfloor of your home. Installing mineral wool dry fibre insulation such as Insulmax is a cost effective way of insulating existing underfloor cavities in your home in situations where it is either difficult to install conventional biscuit/segment insulation or not cost effective.

Traditional Biscuit/Segment Underfloor Insulation

This is the traditional underfloor insulation that most people are familiar with that is used in new home builds. This type of underfloor insulation is made from either spun glass fibres or polyester materials and is generally used in situations where you have easy access to the underfloor in new home builds or renovations prior to installing the gib or plasterboard.

INSULMAX® DRY FIBRE & MINERAL WOOL UNDERFLOOR INSULATION

Insulmax Underfloor Insulation SystemsInsulmax Blown Fibre Insulation or mineral wool insulation is the preferred product our contractors use for existing underfloor cavities. Manufactured by melting and spinning inert minerals to form fine strands, these strands are then milled to form a very high performing blown micro fibre insulation.

An inert water repellent agent is then added which makes the product very resistant to the absorption of liquid water. The products used will not wick water and are a fully breathable. The milled micro fibres are able to be blow installed via small holes. The fineness of the micro fibres also contributes to its exceptional thermal insulation properties and allows it be densely packed into underfloor cavities where access is difficult.

At installed densities the mineral wool & existing underfloor insulation products our preferred suppliers use, have been tested to provide an insulation rating of R2.8 /100mm and has been given the highest rating of non combustibility and it’s rated settling is S1 (less than 1% or unmeasurable).
